2014 November Tasting - Georges Road Winery
“Let me tell you about George’s Road Wine
All fruit hand planted on eight acres in Canterbury
My favourite a pinot noir punching down, a teenage wow, tons of flavour
Wild and untamed as good as it gets
A labour of love, an operatic choir
Shall we say “Don Giovani”
Something to fill the void
2013 was a great year and Waipara did it better!”
The Picton Wine Club were lucky enough to have Kirk Bray of Georges Road Winery present his wines at their 1st November meeting. Julie Kennedy’s wonderful poem says it all. Georges Road Winery is a very small boutique winery and Kirk does most of the work including the winemaking. Club members were very impressed with the wines presented which showed by the large amount of wine sales that evening (club members are offered very good prices on the night by the winery presenting). We tasted a Rose, Syrah, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and an extremely good Noble Riesling. Kirk has won several awards for his wines over the past few years and is extremely passionate about his winemaking career after beginning work as an accountant. Le Café’s food matches were very good and the winemaker was most impressed with these. Anyone interested in joining the wine club should contact Glenys Riggs, meetings are held on the first Friday of every month.
