2015 December Tasting and 10th Anniversary dinner
Picton put on a wonderful warm and sunny evening for the Picton Wine Club’s 10th Anniversary celebration combined with the Christmas meeting. This began at the Edwin Fox Museum on the Picton foreshore. Edel, Johanneshof’s winemaker spoke about their sparkling wines and demonstrated how to open and appreciate “bubbly” wines. All the members enjoyed sitting by the water on a balmy evening partaking of Johaneshof “ Emmi” then wandering round the Edwin Fox Museum until it was time to jump on a bus and be taken to the Conference Room of “The Yacht Club” where the tables glistened with Christmas.
Here “Kay” from Alan Scott wines shared wine knowledge with us and we tasted, pinot gris, sav blanc and Pinot noir. Both these wineries were present at the inaugural Picton Wine Club Meeting in December 2005 so it was so fitting they could both come along to share our 10th Anniversary. Also Norma….. came from Christchurch to join in as she was on the first committee and worked hard to get the club up and running. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening and Julie Kennedy was inspired to pen a poem to celebrate the evening.
